The BankSA Maxi Saver account comes with a Complete Freedom everyday account so you can easily transfer money in and out. We’ll only open a Complete Freedom account if you don't already have one.

To open you’re at least 14 years old with an Australian residential address (under 14s apply in branch with a parent or guardian).

Maxi Saver

  • A flexible account that will earn you interest on your savings
  • 5.00% p.a. total introductory rate for the first 3 months (1.10% p.a. standard variable rate plus + 3.90% p.a. introductory fixed interest rate). Reverts to 1.10% p.a. standard variable rate after the first 3 months^
  • Additional 0.35% p.a. for the first 3 months when you open online
  • $0 Account-keeping fee and transaction fees.

Complete Freedom (if you don't already have one)

  • An everyday account with a Visa Debit Card¹ to make deposits and withdrawals, payments online or on the BankSA Mobile App
  • $0 Account-keeping fee.

Your mobile

A secure code will be sent to your mobile to verify your phone number.

Two of these ID documents

  • Passport
  • Medicare card
  • Australian driver licence
  • Australian birth certificate

If your details are entered incorrectly or we’re unable to identify you, your application will need to be completed in branch.

Tax details

  • Foreign tax information. Only applicable if you’re liable to pay tax in another country
  • Your Tax File Number (TFN). Providing this isn’t compulsory, however if you don’t provide it or provide a TFN exemption reason, tax may be withheld on the interest earned on the account.

Complete your application in branch together

To open your joint account, you’ll need to visit a BankSA branch together.

Please make sure you bring:

  • Your tax details. We’ll need your Tax File Number (TFN) and if you’re a foreign tax resident, we’ll also need your tax residency details
  • Suitable ID. You’ll both need to be verified separately.

Important information
 
1. To be eligible for a Visa Debit Card, you must have an Australian residential address and be 14 years old or over. If you’re 12 or 13 years old and have an Australian residential address, you can request a Freedom Card in branch.
 
^ If you have not had a Maxi Saver account before. Joint accounts are eligible where the primary account holder has not held a Maxi Saver account before.
