New director appointed on BankSA Advisory Board

BankSA today announced the appointment of Rear Admiral the Honourable Kevin Scarce AC CSC RAN (Rtd) to the BankSA Advisory Board, effective immediately.

BankSA Chief Executive, Nick Reade, said the former Governor’s extensive experience in supporting South Australia’s interests, in addition to his tremendous reputation, made him an outstanding addition to the BankSA Advisory Board.

“Mr Scarce is a highly decorated and respected South Australian, whose familiarity with our great State will add considerable value to the Advisory Board’s deliberations and execution of our strategic agenda,” Mr Reade said.

“I am delighted to welcome Mr Scarce to the Advisory Board, and look forward to working with him to deliver great outcomes for our customers, our employees and the South Australian communities we serve.”

Welcoming his appointment, Mr Scarce said he was looking forwarding to helping shape South Australia’s bank, and contribute to its future by offering fresh thinking and new insight.

Mr Scarce joins existing directors of the BankSA Board: Chairman Peter Hanlon; St.George Banking Group Chief Executive, George Frazis; BankSA Chief Executive, Nick Reade; Penmarric Capital Executive Director, Mark Butcher; and My Budget Director, Tammy May.

Adelaide-born, Mr Scarce was formerly Governor of South Australia who, prior to his appointment as the State’s 34th Governor, held a series of executive positions in support of South Australia’s and Australia’s defence agenda, including Chief Executive of the South Australian Government Defence Unit, Chairman of Defence Industry Advisory Board and Acting Under Secretary Defence Materiel Organisation.

A highly distinguished naval officer, Mr Scarce is a recipient of the Companion of the Order of Australia (General Division), Officer of the Order of Australia (Military Division), Member of the Order of Australia (Military Division) and Conspicuous Service Cross, in addition to a number of other service accolades.

Mr Scarce has a Bachelor Financial Administration from University of New England, a Master of Management Economics from University of New South Wales, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from National Defence University, Washington DC.

In addition to his appointment to BankSA’s Advisory Board, Mr Scarce is Chair of Cancer Council SA, Chair of APC Technology, Director of Seely International, Patron of Far East Strategic Reserve – Anglicare, Patron of Barkuma, Ambassador of CanDO, President of Novita Children’s Services, and Chancellor of University of Adelaide.
